This is our core reason for existance. Our Gang Prevention program is our gang deterrence component dealing with violence, drug and alcohol substance abuse, behavioral issues, and crisis management.
The desire of Youth Changes is to target youth before they become interested and involved in gang activity. If there are notions that they are already involved or associated with gang activity by way of paraphernalia, actions, etc we can help.
According to the Tennessean February 23, 2008, Juvenile crime has risen by 56.9 percent between 2006 and 2007
About 9% of murders in the U.S. were committed by youth under 18 in 2000. An estimated 1561 youth under the age of 18 were arrested for homicide in 2000
GOALS: How we will measure success
1. Gang resilience (ways to combat gang solicitation)
2. Knowledge of gang history (the more you know the more you have to work with to
resist)
3. Mentality to divert crisis escalation
4. Knowledge of the effects / dangers of drug use
5. Denounced gang affiliation
